| Administrative Setup of Collectorate Dadra & Nagar Haveli |
INTRODUCTION:

Dadra & Nagar Haveli, was a part of Portuguese Regime till 1954. It was liberated from colonial Rule in August 1954 by Volunteers of Gomatak Dal & Local Public. The area was integrated into Indian Union in 1961. The functioning of the Collector came into being on appointment of first Collector in the year 1961. The Collectorate play a pivotal role in the District administration. A Collector in the Cadre of I.A.S heads the District. He acts as the District Magistrate for maintaining Law and Order in his jurisdiction. Collectorate at District Level The Dadra & Nagar Haveli comprises of 1 Revenue District. In order to facilitate revenue administration, the entire geographical area is sub-divided into 2 Revenue Sub-divisions, 11 Revenue Patelad and 72 Revenue Villages. The district administration is headed by the Collector. In the organization of revenue department, the apex body of administration is the head office of collectorate at district level. The present set up of revenue administration consists of the following hierarchy of Officials. |

2. Resident Deputy Commissioner
3. Mamlatdars
4. Land Reforms Officer
5. Survey & Settlement Officer
FUNCTIONAL ROLE OF COLLECTRATE:
District Head, District authority i.e. District Magistrate & Head of Revenue Administration, grant of license, Permits, Law & order, General administration, Protocol, Public grievances and all activities related to running of District Administration. Resident Deputy Commissioner The Resident Deputy Commissioner (RDC) looks after all the branches of the Collectorate. He deals mainly with general administration and is vested with supervision of day-to-day functions of the Collectorate and revenue administration. |
